Ebay Soapbox Rant!

Let me get on my soapbox here.

I frown upon sellers who use the RARE! HARD TO FIND! keywords in their listings. Because most of the time these are not HTF or Rare. Case in point, here is a mego penguin up for bid … in a RARE HTF alternative jumpsuit (It’s a freakin’ Joker jumpsuit). Either the seller is deliberately trying to deceive the buyer or is so clueless that they should not be putting up these listings at all. I also hate (I know hate is a strong word, but I am going for dramatics here) when they play dumb, like “I know nothing about this type of figure” bullshiiiiiittttt! This just comes down to being knowledgeable about what you are collecting. Buyer Beware.

Off my soapbox now!

Iron Man Lamp

This has to be one of the coolest things that a person can produce for superhero fans, if he decides to do so.  If your like me you cannot wait for the new Iron Man 3 to be release to the masses in May 2013.  I never thought in my wildest dreams that a movie about Iron Man would be so popular.  I was totally wrong.

So back to the topic at hand. A fan of Iron Man has produced an Iron Man arm and hand lamp with the repulsor unit as the light. Clever. The arm itself looks like it has been through a major battle with Warmachine or those devilish looking aliens from the Avengers movie. Even the cord is in the iconic Iron Man red. The build is amazing and detailed for a lamp. Even sideshow collectibles couldn’t have done a better job.

All in all it looks pretty sweet. So take a look at the images courtesy of 9gag.com and its creator Sergio Oliveria.

Ultra Weird Franken-Aquaman on eBay

This has been an interesting week… Three. Count them THREE. Ultra Weird Franken-Aquaman appeared on eBay.

The first one was a 1979 Aquaman on a yellow superman error card.

Winning Bid: $380

Second, 1979 Aquaman on a yellow superman error card with blue batman gloves.

BIN: $600

Third, 1979 Aquaman on yellow superman error card with red torso and red hands.

BIN: $595

We all have heard about these figures through MegoMuseum.com galleries and forums, but to actually see them in the wild world of eBay is mesmerizing.

I just wish I had the money to purchase each and every one of these figures but with prices in the $300-$600 range, I cannot actually bring myself to release my savings on these eBay treasures.

MegoMuseum.com states:

“As they disposed of excess inventory and cancelled figures, Mego took left over Aquaman, Spiderman and sometimes Batman gloves, slapped them on a ’79 Superman card and Voila! The Ultra Weird Franken-Aquaman, sometimes found with glow hands!”
